The Hardness of Beryllium Copper

The hardness before quenching is 200-250HV, and the hardness after quenching is ≥36-42HRC.
Beryllium copper is an alloy with good mechanical, physical and chemical comprehensive properties. After quenching and tempering, it has high strength, elasticity, wear resistance, fatigue resistance and heat resistance. At the same time, beryllium copper also has high electrical conductivity. High thermal conductivity, cold resistance and non-magnetic, no sparks on impact, easy to weld and braze, excellent corrosion resistance in atmosphere, fresh water and sea water.

Corrosion resistance rate of beryllium copper alloy in seawater: (1.1-1.4)×10-2mm/year. Corrosion depth: (10.9-13.8)×10-3mm/year. After corrosion, there is no change in strength and elongation.

Therefore, it can be maintained in seawater for more than 40 years, and it is an irreplaceable material for the structure of submarine cable repeaters. In sulfuric acid medium: in sulfuric acid with a concentration of less than 80% (room temperature), the annual corrosion depth is 0.0012-0.1175mm, and the corrosion is slightly accelerated when the concentration is greater than 80%.
Long service life of beryllium copper molds: Budgeting the cost of molds and the continuity of production, the expected service life of molds is very important for manufacturers. When the strength and hardness of beryllium copper meet the requirements, beryllium copper will affect the mold temperature. The insensitivity to stress can greatly improve the service life of the mold.

The yield strength, elastic modulus, thermal conductivity and temperature expansion coefficient of beryllium copper should also be considered before determining the use of beryllium copper mold materials. Beryllium copper is far more resistant to thermal stress than die steel.

Excellent surface quality of beryllium copper: beryllium copper is very suitable for surface finishing, can be directly electroplated, and has very good adhesion, and beryllium copper is also easy to polish.

Beryllium copper has excellent thermal conductivity, good mechanical properties and good hardness. It is generally used in areas where the injection temperature of the product is high, it is not easy to use cooling water, and the heat is concentrated, and the product quality requirements are relatively high.
