Berylite is a beryllium-aluminosilicate mineral. Beryl mainly occurs in granite pegmatite, but also in sandstone and mica schist. It is often associated with tin and tungsten. Its main minerals are in Austria, Germany and Ireland in Europe; Madagascar in Africa, Ural Mountains in Asia and Northwest China.
Beryl, whose chemical formula is Be3Al2 (SiO3) 6, contains 14.1% beryllium oxide (BeO), 19% aluminum oxide (Al2O3) and 66.9% silicon oxide (SiO2). Hexagonal crystal system. The crystal is hexagonal column with longitudinal stripes on the cylinder surface. The crystal may be very small, but it may also be several meters long. The hardness is 7.5-8, and the specific gravity is 2.63-2.80. Pure beryl is colorless and even transparent. But most of them are green, and some are light blue, yellow, white and rose, with glass luster.
Beryl, as a mineral, is mainly used to extract beryllium metal. Beryl with good quality is a precious gem, which is used as ornaments. Beryllium oxide content of beryl in theory is 14%, and the actual exploitation of high-grade beryl is 10%~12%. Beryl is the most commercially valuable beryllium-bearing mineral.
Beryl (containing 9.26% ~ 14.4% BeO) is a beryllium-aluminosilicate mineral, also known as emerald. The theoretical content is: BeO 14.1%, Al2O3 19%, SiO2 66.9%. Natural beryl minerals often contain other impurities, including 7% Na2O, K2O, Li2O and a small amount of CaO, FeO, Fe2O3, Cr2O3, V2O3, etc.
Hexagonal crystal system, silicon-oxygen tetrahedral structure, mostly hexagonal columnar, often with longitudinal stripes parallel to the C-axis, and obvious stripes on the alkali-free beryl cylinder. Crystals are often in the form of long columns, while alkali-rich crystals are in the form of short columns. Common simple forms include hexagonal columns and hexagonal bipyramids. The fine-grained crystal aggregate can be in the form of crystal cluster or needle, sometimes forming pegmatite, with a length of up to 5 meters and a weight of up to 18 tons. Hardness 7.5-8, specific gravity 2.63-2.80. The stripes are white and generally non-magnetic. Incomplete bottom cleavage, brittle, glassy, transparent to translucent, uniaxial crystal negative light. When the tubular inclusions are parallel and densely arranged, sometimes the cat-eye effect and starlight effect appear. Pure beryl is colorless and transparent. When beryl is rich in cesium, it is pink, called rose beryl, caesium beryl, or morgan stone; When containing trivalent iron, it is yellow and called yellow beryl; When containing chromium, it is bright emerald green, called emerald; When containing bivalent iron, it appears light sky blue and is called aquamarine. Trapiche is a special type of emerald with special growth characteristics; Dabiz produced by Muzo has dark core and radial arm in the middle of emerald, and is composed of carbonaceous inclusions and albite, sometimes calcite and pyrite; The Dabiz emerald produced in Cheval is a green hexagonal core, with six green arms extending outward from the hexagonal prism of the core. The “V” shaped area between the arms is a mixture of albite and emerald.
